Our A+ Biosecurity Standards ensure the ongoing security of our industry and the marine environment on which we all depend. Our farmers take Biosecurity very seriously and continuously work to improve their practices.
Our A+ Biosecurity Standards
Our Biosecurity Standards were written to provide a robust framework for industry to build best practice around and to set a high standard of operation for the industry. These standards aim to implement management measures that reduce biosecurity risk.

Biosecurity Management Plan Templates
Biosecurity Management Plan (BMP) templates have been developed to prepare for the upcoming changes to aquaculture biosecurity regulations. By 2025, all aquaculture facilities will be required to operate under a BMP.
National BMP templates for Green Shell Mussels (GSM) and Pacific Oysters have been designed for use across all of Aotearoa, and can be downloaded using the links below:

Aquaculture Biosecurity Tools and Resources
Below are some of the key resources that may be useful when completing your Biosecurity Management Plans, staff training, or reporting.
Marine Pest ID Guide
This guide can be used to train staff on what species to keep a look out for whilst on the water. Water resistant copies can be requested from BNZ and AQNZ.
BNZ Pest Reporting
This is an online reporting tool that you can use to inform BNZ of any pest species you encounter.
